Theresa Cachuela, 33 years old, mother of three and owner of House of Glam Hawaii LLC in Waipahu, was shot in the head and killed by Jason Cachuela, 44 years old, in the parking lot of Pearlridge Center on Friday morning, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
Her daughter witnessed the shooting and told police that her father shot her mother, as reported by KITV. The girl was described by local media as being 6 or 8 years old.
Jason reportedly shot himself shortly after fleeing the scene in a gray Mazda.
Police are investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide, which occurred two weeks after a judge granted Cachuela’s request for a protective order against her ex-husband.
“This was not a random act, as the victim and suspect were involved in a relationship,” said police lieutenant Deena Thoemmes on Friday, before the shooter was found dead, as reported by the Hawaii Tribune.
Police seized his five registered firearms from Jason, the report stated.
